24 January 2012
TFL is going to extend the London Overground from Clapham Junction to Dalston Junction. This will make journeys between east and south west London much quicker and easier. These new services will start in December 2012 calling at Wandsworth Road, Clapham High Street, Denmark Hill, Peckham Rye, Queens Road Peckham, Surrey Quays, the City and all the stations to Dalston Junction.
Currently engineers are converting platform 2 at Clapham Junction station into two seperate platforms, and are also commencing with big refurbishment works at the Grant Road entrance. These works are taking place to create a new range of benefits including greater passenger accessibility.
These works will start at the Grant Road entrance and go on until Summer 2012.
The Grant Road entrance will be closed at the following times:
13 February to Summer 2012
Monday to Friday - CLOSED between 2200 and 0500 (overnight)
Weekends - CLOSED
Easter (30 March - 16 April) - CLOSED
Weekdays
Access to the London Overground platform will vary between the current set of stairs to the left of the entrance and the new set of stairs on the right of the entrance. A secure walkway will be put up so that passengers can safely walk through the entrance to other areas of the station whilst work is taking place.
Weekends and over Easter
During this period passengers will need to use one of the other entrances: St John’s Hill, Brighton Yard and Junction Approach. While the work is taking place the number of ticket machines will reduce from five to four, please allow extra time to top up your Oyster card or purchase your ticket and reach your platform.
