30 November 2010

On the evening of Friday 26th November, warmed by mince pies and mulled cider, people gathered to see well-known local author, Alex Wheatle, hit the button to switch on the festive lights all around the Clapham Junction town centre, officially welcoming the Christmas period. The Christmas tree, kindly sponsored by Waitrose (St John's Road), lit up Eckstein Square and the assembled applauded as it's hundreds of blue lights, sparkled for the first time. The Manager of Shop-Stop in Clapham Junction station; Scott Thwaytes and Cllr Dawson, switched on the lights on the station's shopping concourse that same evening. Merry Christmas and happy festive shopping to all.
